How To Buy A Camping Tent

Most people immediately think of sleeping bags and tents as soon as you mention camping. This is because the tent is the item that will be used most while camping. If your looking for a place to avoid the rain, the cold, the heat, the wind, or even just a good place to get some sleep, your tent is the place to go. It is no wonder people want to try and find the best tents they can before venturing out on a camping trip.

I've slept out in the great outdoors many times and have been in both good and bad tents. In this article I'll go over some of the main things to look for when purchasing a tent for camping. Once you have finished with this page, you'll be able to find the best tents to meet all of your particular camping needs.

First of all, you need to decide what kind of camping you will be doing. You'll find that hiking tents are much different than car camping tents. Although you can use a backpacking tent for car camping, you should not ever expect to bring a car camping tent with you on a backpacking trip. The weight of a car camping tent is simply too much to bear during a long hiking trip.

After you have chosen a type of tent to purchase, you'll want to choose a tent size. Keep in mind that a tents rating is typically not very accurate when it comes to how many people can fit in it. For example, a tent that states that it can sleep eight people will most likely only sleep four to six.

You'll also want to choose a season type of tent to purchase. You can choose from summer tents, three season tents, and even four season tents. The type you choose will be entirely dependent on the weather you will be camping out in.

Another thing to consider is what style of tent to use. Dome tents, tunnel tents, and A styled tents are all available for purchase. The A style tent is named so because of its shape. You'll find that these tents are not very spacious . A tunnel tent is wider than an A tent and gives the camper a bit more room to maneuver around in.

Just remember that the best tents to buy will vary from trip to trip and you will save yourself a lot of confusion.
