Reviews of the Sky Caddie SG3.5V GPS

Real Reviews Submitted by Real Users!

1. Prior to buying the SG3.5, I was using the SG4. I am unable to express how much better the SG3.5 is than the SG4! All the aspects of the SG3.5 are better than the SG4. The SG3.5 requires 3 AAA batteries that are better than the rechargeable SG4. The SG3.5 uses a modem USB connector in contrast to the flimsy connector featured on the SG4 and the SG4 has a tiny screw that helps make the USB connection and from what I have read this screw tends to strip easily and is difficult to secure. The color monitor on the SG3.5 is superb and looks excellent on a bight day. The device fits well in the hand and is a better shape. There were several instances on a clear day with no clouds where I would have to reset the GPS on the SG4 model. This does not occur with the SG3.5. The device connected to satellites very quickly; in about 15 seconds. If you want a top-notch golf GPS the SG3.5 is the perfect one to get for the cost and functionality.

2. Since getting this device for Christmas, I have tried it on two courses in cities located 400 miles apart. The courses were simple to locate and download. The device was precise and simple to use. I do not have to wonder how far it is to reach the creek that crosses that fairway or how far I hit a certain club, or the number of putts I had during the game. It makes the experience of playing close to your home course or a new course an awesome, even if you are not doing as well as you like in your game.

3. The Sky Caddie SG3.5V GPS Unit by Skygolf is wonderful! Functioned great! Used it initially last weekend in a lot of rain and it operated without a glitch…naturally it had it in a plastic Ziploc bag, and the signal was not disrupted at all…This is my first GPS device, and most likely my last!

4. Used another GPS for two years due to previous ratings regarding Sky Caddies longevity. Purchased this nearly a month ago. It is VERY awesome. Like the color monitor. Like the different formats to show information. Like the capability to adjust the pin position. It is first class all the way.

5. This unit is excellent. You get the same color monitor as the SG5 perhaps just a bit smaller. The only variation is that you have to use batteries. This can be easier at times, though since there may be instances where you forget to recharge your batteries like on other models that do not take standard batteries. Batteries are ideal since I played near 3-4 rounds before needing to change them, and that was the inexpensive batteries that come with the device. I would think that some Energizers or Duracell batteries would last much longer. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. Happy I did not dish out a lot of money on the costly SGX or the SG5. Especially since, it costs $30 dollars per year just to download courses from your state, and more per annually to download courses all over the country. I advise getting the carrying case as well.
